1. Problems With Scale
Scale sometimes builds up in parts of your hot tub. If it gets into your jets, then it can affect how they work. Scale can clog them up, both internally and externally. It can also affect their pressure output.
If you have scale problems, then you might not be able to adjust your jet nozzles as easily as you used to. Nozzles will still move; however, they might feel stiff and gummed up. You might feel like they are scraping against something as they turn. If you apply some pressure, then the nozzles might start moving more freely as they dislodge the scale around them.
Scale can also affect your jets' holes and pressure levels. If your jets work but seem weak and below par, then scale might be blocking their flow.
2. Problems With Your Filter
Sometimes, the filter in your system clogs up or gets damaged. It can't filter water effectively anymore. This can affect your water supply and the way that your jets work.
For example, spa jets sometimes stop working consistently when they have a filter problem. They might stutter on and off or pause periodically before starting again. If they aren't fed an even and consistent supply of water, then they can't work at full stream.
3. Problems With Trapped Air
Spa jets often stop working well if air gets trapped in your system. Air bubbles and pockets in your water make it hard for your pump to get water out of your jets at the right pressure. So, the jets might work weakly or they might have an uneven flow. Sometimes, they won't work at all.
Trapped air problems sometimes happen after you fill a tub to capacity. However, sometimes, air bubbles and pockets form when you don't have enough water running through your system. If your water capacity is low, then there is space for air to get stuck.
